Police have dropped the murder investigation into the death of a man in his seventies in Reading. A 60-year-old man from Reading, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released from police custody with no further action to be taken against him.

The man’s body was found at an address on Wensley Road on Wednesday (12/8) after officers were called to a fear for welfare incident at 7.20am. A Home Office Post Mortem has been carried out and, following the results and several lines of enquiry, the incident is no longer being treated as suspicious.

Police are still keen to hear from anyone with information that may assist them in piecing together the man’s movements before he passed away. They are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who was in the Wensley Road area between 2.30pm on 11 August and 8am on 12 August, especially those with CCTV, doorbell or dash camera footage from the area.

Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the man who has sadly died.

A file will now be prepared for the Coroner.
