Thames Valley Police has enacted a Section 60 order in Bracknell to prevent potential serious violence today (22/5). The order has been put in place in the town following intelligence and information received about a gathering due to take place in the Cabbage Hill area.

The area is defined by Temple Way and Newell Green. The order lasts 12 hours and is due to expire at 7.36am tomorrow (23/5). The order will be reviewed and may be extended.

A Section 60 order can only be put in place in a defined area at a specific time when a senior officer believes there is a possibility of serious violence, or weapons being carried. The order temporarily enhances powers for officers, meaning they can stop and search anyone in a designated area.

Detective Superintendent Clare Knibbs said:

“We have put this Section 60 order in place in Bracknell to prevent potential violence following intelligence we have received. The order will give our officers extra powers to carry out stop and search activity and has been enacted for the safety of the public. You will see more police officers in the area while the order is in place so, please speak to them if you have any concerns.”

Anyone with information about the potential gathering can report this to the police online or by calling 101, quoting reference 43260255140. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
