A groundbreaking study led by Professor Darius Widera and Dr Graeme Cottrell from the University of Reading’s Pharmacy department has found that stem cells found in the mouth lining could hold the key to beating brain cancer. The research, which has been covered by Scienmag, EurekAlert!, Bioengineer, Medical Xpress, and MSN, suggests that these stem cells could help overcome the defences of brain cancer, potentially leading to new and more effective treatments. As a civic university, the University of Reading is committed to working with global partners to drive positive change and improve people’s lives through research and innovation, including in the areas of health and wellbeing, business and society, and heritage and culture.
